About the photograph - At the foot of Benchoona

At the foot of Benchoona mountain

Do you ever find it hard to get a sense of scale when it comes to really large things? Me too! So when I find something of interest like this scene I feel that it needs something we can relate to to give a sense of scale.

In this case it was while exploring the area around Lough Fee, Connemara on a pretty grey and overcast day, admiring Benchoona mountain and wondering how I would photograph it. I could see a stream that linked the lake and the mountain but felt that I still needed something to give it scale. Benchoona is 581m after all. So after exploring further I came across the farmhouse. The perfect subject to provide a sense of size to the photograph.
