About the photograph - Beach life chat, Glassilaun, Connemara

 

 

Spending an afternoon at the beach in Ireland can be rewarding, as a photographer in any case. Apart from the spectacular scenery, there's always something going on. You just need a little patience. On this occasion I was looking to capture Glassilaun Beach looking north in order to showcase the beautiful beach but also the fact that it is overlooked by very impressive Mweelrae mountain. Add in some people at the end of the beach along with a tight zoomed crop and a sense of scale is achieved.

 

Glassilaun Beach is a white sandy beach located between Renvyle and Killary Bay. The backdrop of impressive mountains, make the beach very picturesque. One of those mountains is Mreelrae which at 814 metres is the highest mountain is Co. Mayo and the province of Connaught, and one of the iconic "4 peaks" of Ireland.
