About the photograph - Clare and Achill island twilight

One of the best things about photographing landscapes is that every time you revisit the same location the scene is different. Light and shooting conditions are always changing and a specific spot that is beautiful can be transformed into stunning with a change in time or weather conditions.
This photograph of Achill and Clare islands is a perfect example. I had come across this particular location from a previous trip to the Renvyle Peninsula in Connemara during the winter and wondered what it would be like with a summer sunset. So I returned one July and I was not disappointed. A beautifully still summer evening providing a mesmerising palette of twilight colour behind the high thin clouds. I was delighted to have captured it.
