About the Photograph - Crohy View

an unframed print of the spectacular view of the Donegal coastline seen from Crohy Head along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Crohy Head was one of many places that I had marked for a revisit on my return to Donegal. When I first explored the area, it was a little late in the day with poor light and visibility, but I felt it had potential. So on this trip I made sure that I arrived with plenty of daylight to see what the area offered. I was not disappointed.

The hard part was choosing a location and composition because the views all around me were stunning. So in the end I selected an area of the Head that for me had the kind of elements that I was looking for. For this photograph, I particularly like the old country road and dry stone wall that lead you in to the rest of the scene.

In terms of actually shooting, the wind was very tricky (just look at the sea) too strong for a tripod, and nearly too strong to stand up in, so I had to shoot handheld which I don't normally do for wider angled landscape scenes. That said, I'm really happy with the result.
