About the photograph - Sunset at el Golfo

While exploring the island of Lazarote we came across a lovely fishing village on the south west coast. Stopping for a while to explore the nearby area and it's natural wonders such as the black volcanic beaches and the green lagoon. By the time we go back to the village the sun was getting low on the horizon and I was struck by how yellow the sky appeared and in lovely contrast to a dark looking sea.
Time to take some more photographs. However using regular settings wasn't giving me the quite the same results that my mind's eye was seeing, so I decided to use a different technique, intentional camera movement (icm) which has a wonderful way of removing details in a scene to allow focus on another element such as colour as in this photograph. The result of using this technique is a photograph that is a lot closer to what caught my eye in the first place. I also like how the brighter parts of the sky are stretched out to compliment the horizontal lines of the clouds and the waves.
