About the photograph - The Bog Road, Connemara

 

 

The Bog Road is one of my favourite drives in Ireland. It is simply a stunning location. Every time I am in Connemara I take a drive along it. To me it encapsulates everything that Connemara conjours up in the mind, bogs, lakes, breathtaking mountain views, and of course plenty of sheep. Most of the time it is windy, overcast and raining (don't let put you off!). On this occasion there was a wonderful combination of calm water, blue sky with soft thin clouds and of course the Autumn evening sun that cast a wonderful golden hue on the surrounding bog.
