About the photograph - Sundown at Lough Leane

Sundown at Lough Leane

Ireland or Tanzania?

Until this photograph I had never mistaken a scene in Ireland with an African savanna. The intensity of the oranges and yellows in the sky was something to behold. And the reflection in the calm water of the lake was equally strong, thus giving me a top and bottom balance to the photograph. I thought the tree growing out of the top of an islet made for a great focal point in the image as it was high enough to see its branches against the sun setting sky. Hence the savanna effect.

OK, I've not traveled to the Serengeti yet, but this photograph is how I image it.

Lough Leane is located in Killarney National Park and is one of the three famous Lakes alongside Muckross Lake and Upper Lake. Follow the link for further information about Killarney National Park.
