About the photograph - Glendalough Wood

Glendalough Wood

Glendalough Valley is a great place to explore with many picturesque locations to be discovered along its varied trails. I had walked along this particular trail many times before, but had never seen this spot illuminated by the evening sun. The reflections of light from the silver birch trees, the green of the moss on the forest floor and a forest that appeared to have no end.

Glendalough is a glacial valley located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Also know as ‘the valley of the two lakes‘ for its spectacular scenery, rich history, archaeology and abundant wildlife. It is also home to one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century.
